What do we mean by ‘Naturally’ Raised Beef?
Our farming philosophy is based on the goals of the sustainable and ecological stewardship of the land. Our husbandry practices are focused on maintaining a healthy, low stress, ‘closed’ herd. This means that we oversee all aspects of the breeding, raising and finishing of all our cattle.
We make maximum use of pastureland and in winter feed only good quality hay. Our cattle have access to certified organic salt, minerals and kelp on a ‘free choice’ basis throughout the year. Good quality grain is also fed during the ‘finishing’ stage of production.
NO herbicides are used on pastures
NO growth hormones given to cattle
NO additives such as antibiotics used in feed
Our approach is also based the the belief that the best opportunity for sustainable food production is the development of strong, local markets. All our beef is processed at a government inspected plant located just 20 minutes from the farm.
This means that less energy is used to produce our product. As well our animals are not subject to the additional stress and possible health risks associated with large industrial beef marketing systems.
